Why do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance covers you for things that may go wrong on your holiday or business trip. These can range from small things such as if your luggage gets delayed, lost or stolen to medical emergencies such as if you require hospital treatment or repatriation.
It can be extremely expensive for medical treatment abroad and with the South African Rand being as it is it will could cost you hundreds of thousands of Rands if something goes wrong whilst abroad.
What type of travel insurance should I get?
Easy Travel Insurance offers a variety of policies. Our policies fall into 2 categories – business and leisure. Our leisure policies range from Economy, luxury, Africa & Asia, Schengen, Youth to Senior cover. We also offer cover for corporate and business travel.
We also work closely with other South African travel insurance providers. Please email us should you require more options.
What countries am I covered to travel to?
The Schengen Cover product only covers travel to the Schengen zone.
The Africa, Asia, Indian Ocean and Middle East product only covers travel to countries within these territories.
The Economy product covers all countries EXCEPT USA and Carribean.
The Worldwide Cover, Business Cover, Student Cover and Senior Cover policies covers all countries.

You are not covered if you travel in regions or countries where the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office has issued a travel warning. Click here to check regions that have travel warnings.
My medical aid only covers me for a portion of my trip - can I take out a policy for the remainder?
Unfortunately one of Linkhams’ requirements is to cover the entire trip. You need to take out a policy for the full duration. Easy Travel Insurance does work with another provider that will cover a portion of the trip – either the first or last leg of the trip. Please call for details.
What is the maximum duration of your policies?
Different products offer a different maximum number of days. Africa & Asia, Business, Schengen, Economy and Luxury products have a maximum duration of 180 days. Senior policies 71 years – 85 years can only be bought up to 92 days, 86 years – 90 years have upto 31 days . Youth Cover can be taken out for up to 365 days. Should you require longer duration please email us, we might have an alternative provider.
I am looking for a policy for missed connections & lost baggage only - can I have this cover only?
No, our policies can only be taken out in full.
If you require lost baggage cover you might want to consider requesting cover from your home contents provider.
I am NOT a resident in South Africa - can I take out your travel insurance?
Our outgoing travel insurance (Economy, Business, Luxury, Youth, Schengen, Senior) are only for residents or citizens of South Africa. Our South African Visitors travel insurance is available to non-RSA citizens only. It is not suitable for South Africans with dual nationality.
We do work with another provider that covers citizens of Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe. Please email us for details.
Can I use your travel insurance for emigration purposes?
Yes, you can purchase our Economy cover for upto 31 days, which includes emergency medical coverage only, Please call us on 010 211 4858.
What sort of activities are excluded on your policies?
Crew member of a ship, working on off-shore drilling rigs, undertaking non-casual employment abroad on a permanent or contract basis, big gaming hunting, deep sea fishing, hang gliding, ice climbing, rock climbing, running of the bulls, skydiving, shark cage diving, zorbing.

I have left South Africa. Can I still purchase travel insurance?
Unfortunately, we can not cover you if you have already left South Africa. No South African travel insurance provider will be able to offer cover as you have already started your journey.
We suggest you try World Nomads. They will be able to offer cover if you have already started your trip.

How do I pay for the travel insurance?
Once you received your quote and entered all the required fields, you will be given an option to buy the policy by paying by credit card or debit card with a Mastercard or Visa logo.
If you select this you will be taken to secure server where you will be able to enter your credit card details and the payment will be processed.The policy documents will be emailed straight away.
Where can I see the Schedule of Benefits?
To view the policy Schedule of Benefits please navigate to the products’ page (go to ‘Products’ at top menu, then click on any of the products below).
Scroll down to ‘Download the Details’ then click on the ‘Policy Schedule’ button. This will open the PDF version of the Schedule of Benefits.
The Terms & Conditions PDF is also available for download on the page.

How will I receive my policy?
You will receive your policy by email at the email address that you give us, giving you instant cover. Simply print a copy for the embassy and take a copy with you when travelling for easy reference.
Can I receive my policy by post?
Unfortunately we don’t post policies.
What happens if I need to make a claim?

Who is Easy Travel Insurance?

What do I do in a medical emergency?
In case of emergency, Africa Assist provides worldwide, 24-hour medical assistance for all our policy holders leaving you with the peace of mind that your insurance cover gives you emergency medical protection wherever you are.

What if I do not receive an email after I have purchased a policy?
Don’t worry if you have purchased the policy you are covered.The first thing to do is check your email’s spam or junk folder.
Please call +27 (10) 211 4858 and they will resend the policy for you.
Who provides emergency medical assistance?
Africa Assist provides worldwide, 24-hour medical assistance for all our policy holders.
What happens if I want to cancel my policy?
Contact 010 211 4858 in the event that you wish to cancel your policy.
Our policies have a 14 day money-back guarantee from the date of purchase provided your journey has not yet started, no visa has been obtained using this policy and no claims have been submitted; or this policy may be cancelled if the insured journey is cancelled and no claims have been submitted; or
this policy may be cancelled if no visa is obtained, no claims have been submitted, but the policy is no longer required.
The policy cannot be cancelled if a visa application was approved based on the travel insurance policy and the journey has not been cancelled.
The policy cannot be cancelled once an Insured Journey has started, or after the expiry date of the Insured Journey.
What if I made a mistake when buying travel insurance?
If you have made a mistake and purchased the wrong policy type or have the incorrect travel dates then you will have to contact our help desk on 010 211 4858.

Can I extend my travel insurance policy until I get a flight back to South Africa?
Yes, your policy can be extended as per the insurers discretion. An additional premium will be required and we will provide an endorsement on your policy for the extra days of cover.
I need a letter from my travel insurance company for a Schengen visa - do you provide this?
Yes, we provide the 1 page letter which the Schengen embassies require. This is sent along with the policy documents.
Can I be covered in South Africa?
Yes. You can purchase a South Africa Cover policy. Please note these policies don’t include medical emergency cover. Click here to view the South Africa Cover Schedule of Benefits.
Do you cover over 85s?
yes we provide coverage for 86 years to 90 years subject to a medical declaration form submitted to the insurer.
